There should be no doubt that the Chinese weather balloon incident is the Biden Administration’s biggest scandal thus far. With Republicans in control of the House, they’ll likely commence investigations into every dimension of what just happened, both in innocent pursuit of the truth as well as to pursue their self-interested political agenda ahead of next year’s elections. Against this context, it’ll be extremely difficult – if not impossible – to salvage the New Détente.
