It's now clear that Joe Biden, Victoria Nuland and even GOP Senator Johnson all wanted the Nord Stream pipelines to be destroyed.
Joe Biden: "If Russia invades...then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it."
Victoria Nuland: “If Russia invades Ukraine, one way or another, Nord Stream 2 will not move forward.”
Sen. Ron Johnson: "I can't think of a more powerful way to punish Russian aggression than by rolling back what progress has been made, and if at all possible , prevent the Nord Stream 2 from ever being completed... Go beyond just suspending it but ending it permanently."

The water the pipelines are in is not very deep. Any professional diver with a minimum amount of support could place explosives on the pipes. Which means it doesn't even take a state actor to do this. This is easily within the capability of Ukranians or anyone else with an axe to grind to do this.

It was Chancellor (at the time) Angela Merkel who "pleaded" with Vladimir Putin to supply Germany with MORE Natural Gas after she had, stupidly, closed down ALL of Germany's Nuclear Power Stations. Putin was at first reluctant due to a previous "backstabbing" that he had experienced from Merkel over another pipeline.
However, he eventually agreed to supply Germany with more Gas from the far North Yamal gas field via a new pipeline which would eventually enter the Baltic Sea and run parallel with the NORD STREAM 1 pipeline.
Before the sub-sea section could be completed by a private pipe laying contractor, the "Collective West", and most especially the USA, exerted tremendous pressure on this contractor resulting him in abandoning the contract.
Vladimir Putin then ordered TWO RUSSIAN LAY BARGES (these are vessels that lay continuously welded steel pipe onto the sea bed) onto the contract. These Russian Lay Barges then completed laying the NORD STREAM 2 pipeline up to the connection point on the German coast.
UNFORTUNATELY NO RUSSIAN GAS EVER FLOWED THROUGH THIS PIPELINE BECAUSE THE NEW GERMAN CHANCELLOR, OLAF SCHOLZ, NEVER GOT THE COMPLETION CERTIFICATES SIGNED OFF !!!
So ........ does this sound like a scenario where Russia would blow up its pipeline seeing as Russia, ITSELF, had to complete the laying of this pipeline right up to Germany and would have pumped the Gas, that Angela Merkel asked for, had Chancellor Scholz signed the COMPLETION CERTIFICATES ????!!!!
Except that the anti Russian sanctions will lead to the energy starvation/inflation of German and other EU states and turn all of them into Zionist puppets of the Global WEF billionaire overlords.
Let's see how long THAT lasts when citizens of these countries are starving and freezing this winter.
Let's not forget that Russia is a leader not only in energy but also FERTILIZER needed FOR US/EU farmers to grow their crops.
