"...would have amounted to wrestling with a pig by dirtying himself..."

The other way around: '...dirtying himself by wrestling with a pig...'.

"...squeals with pleasure."

I'd be inclined to go for 'delight' here; 'pleasure' seems more natural, neutral, innocent, whereas delight is more likely to be the result of targeted action — deserved reward for applied (clever) cunning.

"...Hungary should withdraw from the EU and NATO in order to form “a union with Putin”."

Well, yeah — Duh! But that's just as true for Poland (and even more so, as it does actually have something of an industrial base to develop) as it is any other nation state anywhere (not just Europe).

I know you don't like a lot of the Alt Media community, and I'm inclined to agree with you for the most part, and I hope this isn't akin to heresy, but I like Michael Hudson's take on it (although a bit long-winded) on UNZ.com: https://www.unz.com/mhudson/barbarism-or-civilization/

"...hold the next EU Foreign Affairs Council in Ukraine..."

Oh yeah, good idea: de-escalation on a stick!

Make sure you don't poke your eye out with the sharp end, while staring down the barrel.

"...cooperation with the Chinese police imperils national sovereignty."

What, you mean like the IMF?

"...Hungary has Poland’s best interests in mind..."

'...at heart'.

I agree.

I seem to remember a line of argumentation suggesting that the previous PiS Polish government was essentially pursuing the strategy that Orban is now talking about but that the current PO government is inclined to align itself with--or even subordinate itself to--Germany.

Of course, since Germany itself is so subordinate to the US, perhaps its a distinction without a difference.

That's correct.

Here's what I wrote about PiS' foreign policy back in fall 2022:

https://astutenews.com/2022/09/polands-hyping-up-the-german-threat-to-central-europe-to-consolidate-its-regional-influence/

And my recent insight into PO's from spring 2024:

I believe that the schizophrenia is due to PiS-influenced members of Poland's "deep state".

They're still in some military and diplomatic positions and thus influencing policy.

But PO's pro-German direction is predominant in my assessment.

The polish ruling class could not care less about poland or its interests. They crave a pat on the head from Master.

The Pans always thought they were the best, in a very individualistic way, which of course led to the erasure of Poland of the map for over 150 years...
