A Third World War isn’t inevitable since that worst-case scenario can still be averted. All that the US has to do is realize that it’s impossible to reverse the global systemic transition to multipolarity. No amount of “containment”, proxy wars, or sanctions can stop the course of history regardless of whatever rogue US influencers might think.

True, but "The American People" are by design also the most distracted, most propagandized and thus most ignorant people of any advanced industrialized nation I can think of. It's a no-brainer that U.S. foreign policy does not serve the interest of "The American People", on the contrary. However, the U.S. is not a Democracy so all this talk about "The American People" misses the point, unless "The American People" wake up.
