People in Kenya may live better than those in the Sahel now, but Kenya's Western-financed government is trying to impose IMF austerity on them, hence the protests. I call setting the Parliament building on fire a pretty effective protest, and it DID force Ruto to withdraw the tax on food.
You're right that the protests had little to do with America directly, but they were triggered by US Empire policy that their government embraced.
You have pretty much said what I was going to say, OB. The Kenyan government has imposed austerity. The tax plan is part of the austerity package. The IMF is the reason for the austerity plan. The U.S. completely controls the IMF. So. A direct relationship between the anti-government protests and the U.S.? No. However, the indirect relationship could not be more clear. Even if the new relationship between Kenya and NATO (also completely controlled by the U.S.) was at most a minor aggravating factor, or none at all.

I first saw Kenyan story on Kim Iversen's YouTube channel and immediately knew it was BS. The alt media unfortunately easily get excited.

I said it anyway. Sometimes I am a bit much
Excellent article that needed to be written. Frequently, the "hardest thing" is not listening to others. This is a sign of intelligence.
