Top Chinese Media Rubbished Propaganda Misportraying Their Country As A Russian Military Ally

The Mainstream Media is dutifully doing its part by maximally amplifying this false claim, but the Alt-Media Community should reverse course and abandon its self-interested embrace of this same lie. Continuing to cling to it after the Global Times’ latest piece cited experts who debunked this propaganda will be interpreted by many as an act of information warfare against the Sino-Russo Entente. Those who sincerely support these two Great Powers, their strategic partnership, and multipolarity should therefore drop this disinformation.

The Sino-Russo Entente that’s taken shape over the past year and especially since President Xi’s latest trip to Moscow in March isn’t a “military alliance” no matter how much many in the Alt-Media Community (AMC) and Mainstream Media (MSM) wish that it was for polar opposite narrative reasons. The first’s influencers have a stake in pushing this to generate clout, proselytize a twisted ideology, and solicit donations from naïve followers, while the second does this to fearmonger about those two.

Top Chinese media outlet Global Times just rubbished this propaganda misportraying their country as a Russian ally after Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi repeated it at the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum in Stockholm over the weekend. In his speech, which can be read in full here, he very strongly implied such a relationship between those two when referencing their joint air and naval exercises in the region.

This prompted Global Times to clarify China’s ties with Russia in their piece about how “Hayashi's hype of China, Russia military alliance 'an excuse for Japan's own military expansion'”. They quoted an expert on Japan who said that “By creating the impression that China and Russia are united, Japan magnifies the threat of China and Russia and binds the two countries together because portraying China and Russia as a so-called military alliance is a very important excuse for Japan's own military expansion.”

Unnamed experts that were mentioned in the text added that “By forcibly kidnapping and binding China and Russia together, Japan wants to create a distorted image that China and Russia are destroying the order of Asia, the Indo-Pacific region, or even the global order.” The insight that was just shared in the Global Times’ piece poses a dilemma for the AMC and MSM alike, each of whom have been pushing this false claim for the past 15 months and especially since President Xi’s visit to Moscow.

The reality is that these two multipolar Great Powers share the same goal of accelerating the global systemic transition to multipolarity but aren’t “military allies” and actually have a few very sensitive disagreements with one another. If there was any “military alliance” between them, then China would have already been arming Russia, but it’s reluctant to do so due to fears of the EU complying with the US’ expected sanctions demands. Nevertheless, such a scenario could indeed unfold in the event that Kiev’s NATO-backed counteroffensive succeeds in pushing Russia back to its pre-2014 borders and possibly even captures some of its universally recognized territory like Zelensky is allegedly plotting, but that appears unlikely for now.
