Unstable countries are easier for the US Empire to manipulate. Remember that the grift must flow. It doesn't flow so well when there is a government that puts the interests of its own people ahead of those of the Empire.

India should build a border wall. This is a good investment into infra-structure and the "benefits" are spread around all Indian States sharing a border with Bangladesh. There are also good excuses to recruit more border patrol and local defense militia. If the war cannot be avoided, then we may as well prepare for it in ways that can still benefit a peace time economy.

"...change Bangladesh’s destiny..."

What, you mean no Orange Revolution to be followed by a Revolution of Dignity with a fatty handing out celebratory biscuits and another on stage and preaching the advantages of targeting hatred and violence to restrict freedom of speech, then thought, and ultimately intellectual capacity? Oh dear, poor Bangladesh! What might they have done to be threatened with such neglect?! I wonder what they might do to overcome such a potential handicap? Perhaps offering to host a violent aggressor's military machinations in the area might help?

The Bangladesh situation seems quite different from Ukraine in some key respects. There is no part of Bangladesh that is inclined to rebel against rule from Dhaka. And Islam--specifically JEI--have a role to play that is absent in Ukraine.

Is the Bangladeshi army under the sway of the US like the Pakistani military? Will it enforce US will in Bangladesh? Who in Bangladesh would be comfortable with US strategic dominance of the country?

What is the BNP's preferred policy in regard to pursuing Bangladeshi interests in the India-China-US matrix?

The notion of the US trying to establish a "Chistian state" seems far-fetched. And acquisition of an "air base" in Bangladesh seems at least questionable, although maybe the US is unhappy about its lack of bases in South and SE Asia (except Singapore). I can see the US wanting to meddle in Myanmar, but I find it hard to believe we would enrage Modi and most Indians by playing around in NE India. In short, I'm still trying to understand what the US plan is that would include the destabilization of Hasina.

I'm still not really getting this.

“I'm still not really getting this.”

That’s because you are rational, unlike the US State Department.

The parallel to Ukraine is appropriate I think. Post the overthrow I'm reading about Bangladeshi Hindus being attacked by the usual "angry mobs" you find in that part of the world. All spontaneous of course. No state involvement there /s.

This could give India a reason to mount their own 'special operation' under UN 'right to protect' auspices. How that plays out, and what Pakistan's response would be is anyone's guess. As usual the US stirs up a hornets nest way beyond what it's capable of managing.
