Pakistan is not ready for traditional democracy. A strong central government inevitably short-changes the farthest province, Balochistan. The not-so-competent Pakistan government, or the civilian branch of the Pakistan military, has difficulty running a poor country well. But really it would be difficult for any civilian government to manage Pakistan well. Before any longer-term solution is found, the central government would naturally resort to extreme nationalism to hold the country together. In the best of situations, if the Pakistan government can spend ten years on improving the infrastructure and economy of Balochistan, then Balochistan may become a lesser problem. But I think the population pressure alone is enough to kill all chance of internal peace.

Wondering how the munificent American Deep State has fertilized this ground.
