There’s a legitimate reason to wonder whether the Sino-American discussions over a New Détente involve India since the US wouldn’t otherwise hang Delhi out to dry by staying committed to its planned two-day talks with China despite those two having their worst clashes in two and a half years just two days prior. The tacit signal being sent by this decision is that the US is considering adopting a policy of neutrality towards the Sino-Indo border dispute in order to maximally incentivize China into agreeing to a New Détente.
USA is a not reliable partner for anyone. It would cut anyone that works independently while it works as the most selfish of the nations.
Nonetheless, USA have 2 parties with differing ideologies. Current Democrats are inherently Anti Russia while Republicans seem to be more Anti China. 2024 elections could bring about a change in the US foreign policy if present government is ousted. But I don't think this bi polar ( and then eventually uni polar) pursuit of the US will stop.
Multipolarity is the need of the hour. Instead of fighting against each other, countries need to join and fight decisively against climate change and other major issues.
India and Russia together can bring a multipolar and much more stable world. But more freinds will be needed like Iran and UAE in middle east , like Indonesia, Vietnam in South East Asia, Hungary and maybe even France in Europe, Brazil and Argentina in Latin America and Egypt and South Africa in Africa.
It’s easier to have 1 enemy than to have multiple enemies. Both China and the US recognize this. It’ll be interesting to see how this ends up, but if the US and China want to restore their pre-Ukraine war plans against the other, stopping India is the first step. The next hotspot on the grand chessboard will be in Africa, and China and America can’t have India influencing these countries.
