No matter what Zelensky does at this point, he's in somebody's crosshairs. It's really hard to understand why he lacks the courage to declare his independence, withdraw from the battle field, and save lives of some of fellow countrymen. The situation looks far more hopeless now than the entirely hopeless situation at the beginning. So why can't he now change course, and just tell Lindsey Graham and the rest of the ship of fools to get out? Why can't he do at least one good thing before departing the earth?
I guess he took the threats from the Azov guys seriously. Why wouldn't you, given their track record? The guy was never anything more than a puppet anyway. Here's the guy that put him in power. Things aren't working out too well for him either, or at least that's what we've been told.
Given the intransigence of the EU and USA, I don't see any other outcome than the complete annexation of Ukraine. In that scenario the Nazis flee to the EU and Canada, and rational Ukrainians are left to rebuild the country with Russian and Chinese support while Blackrock et al. get nothing.
Poland and the Baltics can decide if they want to waste their money on a new Iron Curtain, while Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Moldova will accept the new arrangement, which will no doubt be offered on favourable terms, especially the energy aspects. Russia is growing economically while the EU is stagnant and declining. The choice is obvious for anyone with any economic sense.
One thing to bear in mind. While the Ukrainian census lists 'ethnic Russians' as 17%, based on the election results of 2010 that number is probably closer to 50%. Under Russian administration no one will be deprived of their language or religious rights, as is currently the case in Ukraine, and once the economy recovers few will have any incentive to stir up trouble, and those that do will be hunted down, arrested and tried. Not that hard to do as they'll be betrayed by their own guys looking to cut a deal. No honour among thieves.
I often talk to Canadians who are completely oblivious about the war and its causes. When I do, I give them a scenario to sharpen their thinking which goes like this: Imagine if a government came to power in Canada that decided to make English the only official language, and that banned the use of French in govt. and public life, including in the province of Quebec. How long do you think Quebec would remain in Canada under that scenario, and what about the significant French population in Ontario and New Brunswick? What would the government's response be to that? Start shelling Gatineau across the Ottawa river? Mine the Montreal harbour?
We've already had two referendums on Quebec separation which only narrowly failed. They would have passed if not for the English and Immigrant votes. Had they succeeded, Quebec would have become an independent sovereign nation without a shot being fired. So why didn't that happen in Crimea or the Donbas where a majority clearly expressed their desire to separate, completely in line with declarations made in the UN charter?
Put that in your pipe and smoke it Canadians, while trying to decide if you want to re-elect a government that applauds a Nazi war criminal in our very own parliament.
<edit>
There was never a more absurd moment in Canadian politics than the prime minister accusing the opposition of "standing with people who wave swastikas" only a few months later giving a standing ovation to an actual Nazi war criminal (with a warrant for his arrest in Russia BTW).
Just Ignore Elensky. His days are numbered. Russians have made it clear that they would not negotiate with Elensky. Elensky as the white gloves for his western masters, no longer has any value when his masters need a different make-up, let alone when his masters have a major change of composition.
There seems to be a strong correlation with the US election calendar.
this like treating Russia as junior partner

Anything to prolong the gravy train and to postopone the inevitable capitulation without preconditions.
