Yes, I also realized some time ago the very substantial differences in operational styles in Russian foreign policies and their executions vs. American. At the planning stage it is usually a well thought-out chess game like strategy from Russia. Allies are carefully chosen and are not discarded carelessly. The best examples here are Cuba, North Korea and China. Even after the 1991 collapse these three states received substantial help and cooperation remained to this day. The seemingly everlasting U.S. vs. Russia conflict reminds me the Peloponnesian War, Sparta vs. Athens. Athens had the larger population with matching industry and more numerous ships and allies. On the other hand Sparta had the ultimate military state construction and a relentless attitude.

I agree, Russia is not looking for a confrontation to undermine the security of the Suez Canal area; they are building an international structure where they can balance U.S. activities. They have been pushed in this direction by a surrealistic American drive toward world domination that operated with deeply compromised foreign and domestic policies for over a century now.
