Terrorism is the weapon of choice of cowards and losers.

This act will work for multiple reasons: including anti-espionage and troop aggregation, etc. Hopefully Russia would also station enough personnel dedicated to EW and anti-drone duties.

"...the West doesn’t want Ukraine to go down without a fight, even if that includes continuing to kill civilians across the border like it’s been doing for over a year."

So... Nothing new (t)here.

In the big picture, when history's had a chance to look over and evaluate how all the pieces came together as they did, will it make the Americans' defeat any less embarrassing?

If this is what "winning" looks like for Moscow, I loathe to see what actual defeat looks like.

I still maintain that the military-strategic dynamics favor Russia, but I also disavow those of my Alt-Media "peers" who prematurely concluded long ago that Russia has supposedly already "won" and that it has some "5D chess master plan" for purposely perpetuating the conflict.

You might be interested in my 20 constructive critiques of the SMO from late 2022, which are still very relevant:

I'm a diehard supporter of the SMO, but I'm also not naive nor a propagandist, and I concluded as early as June 2022 that all sides underestimated one another:

Putin is already waiting for Trump to get into office and come up with a peace deal, which you don't do if you are actually winning.

"Winning" is defined differently by both parties and their supporters, but Russia continues to make gradual on-the-ground gains against NATO's proxy arm, which is an impressive achievement in my opinion.

I don't believe that Russia "has already won" like a lot of its online supporters claim, but I do believe that it's doing better than Ukraine/NATO are, though it's also paid enormous costs to get to this point.

With all due respect, nothing short of an immediate decapitation of the Kiev political leadership, and capitulation of the AFU, in the early days & weeks of this war--er, "Special Military Operation"--would have sufficed for Russian victory. Anything less, such as this protracted & senseless fratricide that has only enlivened & emboldened NATO, is an actual tactical & strategic defeat for Russia.
